How to unlock Huawei Pocket Wi-Fi

 

Having your own portable internet hotspot is very useful specially when you travel a lot. You don't need to go to a computer shop anymore just to rent a PC and go online. All you need to do is to turn on your pocket Wi-Fi then connect your device via Wi-Fi/USB cable and you're good to go. It will save you a lot of time and effort. 

However, your internet speed will vary depending on the cellular network you're using. This is due to the fact that not all places here in the Philippines offer the same signal strength for every network providers like Globe, Smart, and Sun Cellular. In some areas, Globe has a better signal than smart or sometimes, it's the other way around. The problem here is that, locked pocket Wi-Fi's from Globe, Smart, and Sun won't allow you to use a different SIM card from other network providers forcing you to deal with their crappy connection. The only solution here is to unlock your device itself and that's what this article is all about. After unlocking your device you should now be able to use any SIM card into it.

Just a reminder though, I'm not responsible if you break your device so do it at your own risk. Doing this process will also void your warranty.

How to unlock Huawei Pocket Wi-Fi

Step 1. Look for the IMEI. You can find this at the back of your device. Just remove the cover and then the battery.

Step 2. Download this tool.

Step 3. Once done, open the file.

Step 4. Enter the IMEI in the text box and click "Calc"

Step 5. Insert a different network SIM card then turn your Pocket Wi-Fi on and connect it to your PC via Wi-Fi/USB cable.

Step 6. Once connected, open your browser and type in the device gateway (Ex. 192.168.8.1) 

Step 7. Log in your username and password (Default - Username: admin Password: admin)

Read this before proceeding to the last step.
Make sure to copy the correct code because you only have 10 attempts available.

Step 8. After that, it will ask for your unlock code. Just copy the result you get from the tool under the "v201 code" tab then paste it in the text box and click "Ok". Your device is now unlocked.
