LG G5 modular smartphone launched at MWC 2016
LG has finally launched the most awaited modular smartphone that would probably change the smartphone game. The LG G5 is more than just a design as it provides a lot of promising features that will offer both cutting edge technology and convenience to its user.
The main feature of this smartphone is the ability to detach the bottom part of the phone, allowing you to not only remove the battery but also to transform the device itself into a digital camera and a Hi-Fi player. You can do this by simply changing the detachable part of the phone with the optimized accessories like the LG Cam Plus and LG Hi-Fi Plus with B&Q Play.
LG Cam Plus is an accessory of LG G5 that has a dedicated shutter, a button for video recording, and a slider for zooming. Also, it has an additional battery, boosting the LG G5's battery capacity up to 4,000 mAh.
As for the audio, you can transform the LG G5 into a portable Hi-Fi audio player using LG Hi-Fi Plus with 32-bit DAC and a dedicated amp that supports native direct digital streaming for high resolution audio files. It does produce a superb sound quality specially if you paired it with a high end headphones.
Aside from detachable modules, LG also introduced "LG friends" which are basically accessories that you can pair with the LG G5 such as the LG 360 Cam, LG 360 VR, and LG Rolling Bot. As the name states, LG 360 Cam is a camera that can take a 360 degrees angle photos and videos which is quite fun by the way. On the other hand, LG 360 VR is the one that really caught my interest. Unlike other VR headset, the LG 360 VR is way lighter, smaller and more comfortable to use. It only weighs 180 grams and can produce a 20% sharper image. Another exciting member of the LG Friends is the Rolling bot, it is a robot that you can use as a surveillance camera at your home. You can control it remotely and it can also take photos and videos to help you monitor your place.
Rounding up, LG has really stepped up this year and can probably challenge Samsung in terms of sale. LG G5 is arguably the most innovative smartphone as of now and will be one of the most talked about stories this year. No doubt about that.
LG G5 will be available at the beginning of April and as for the price, there's no official announcement yet but it is expected to be priced the same as LG G4 which is around $600.
