Best alternative apps for Facebook
A lot of us are keep on complaining about how fast our smartphone battery gets low and it requires us to plug the charger again even though our day isn't over yet. There are articles and claims that one of the cause of this problem is the Facebook app which eats 15-20% our battery life alone. So now, you're probably thinking that you should just stop using Facebook and get away with it. Well, that's not what this article is all about.
The problem is the Facebook app itself and in fact, there's even a test conducted by The Guardian to see how this app really affects our battery life. They used the mobile version of the Facebook site for a week and as it turns out, they had a 20% more battery life left on average. That means that the app is one of the reasons why our phone won't last a day, at least for some who uses it often. We figured that maybe using an alternative app for Facebook will help. So, we gather a list of alternative app that you should probably give a try.
1) Metal for Facebook and Twitter
This app is probably our favorite alternative so far. It can send you a push notification, change the look of the app using themes, it has a floating action button and forced mobile or desktop site view, and has a Twitter support as well. Now we don't need to download the Twitter app separately. Plus this app doesn't eat too much space unlike the Facebook app.
2) Tinfoil for Facebook
Tinfoil for Facebook is the next on our list, it's a web wrapper app that can perform some of the basic functions of Facebook. It's not as good as the Metal but it's more lite and fast. What's good about about this though, is it doesn't sync in the background which makes it more battery friendly.
3) Facebook Lite
Facebook Lite is an official app of Facebook, designed for areas that has a slow internet connection. It can do pretty much all of the Facebook's app functions but unlike Facebook app, it's much more faster and consumes less data.
